Major projects like the City Rail Link, Light Rail, Eastern Busway will be supported by the funds, as well highway upgrades and new walking and cycling connections.

It is part of a $24.3 billion transport package announced by Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency on Tuesday.

Waka Kotahi spokesperson Steve Mutton said the funding will support growth with more accessible, sustainable travel options.

“Auckland is a world class city and it needs a world-class transport system that is safe and efficient to keep everyone moving as New Zealand’s largest city continues to grow,” he said.

The New Zealand official yearbook 1959

The comparison from then to now ... well read for yourselves.

Now this is a very interesting read, and I've just started (if you like this sort of stuff)
The comparison from then to now ... well read for yourselves.
Learning all about the percentages of beneficiaries (all levels) then and now, well I'd said not much has changed per capita.
Seeing the numbers from certain years, truly shows how the economy was or wasn't running dictated by events e.g. world wars.
It just shows that we really haven't learned a great deal over the years.
Just repeating or dressing up the same mistakes, when will we ever learn?
Anyway, for those who want to peruse though the yearbook, here's the link: www3.stats.govt.nz...

Will the Government and the Greens still pursue the resettlement of the 235 refugees from Nauru and PNG?

Danny from Titirangi

The Australian Government have refused to take the remaining 235 refugees from Nauru Island and PNG because they cannot verify their identities. If NZ were to accept them what position would that put us in not knowing who they were? Could we be admitting more extremists?

MORE plant photos for you all to enjoy. 😃 I just HAD to take them to cheer everybody up during lockdown. 😃

Sharon from Te Atatu South

Photo 1: My lavender flowering. Yes, the flowers are pink bunny ears flowers. 😃

Photo 3: Another daffodil, leaning against the fence with a slug in it you can't see. It got that way because I did the weeding a few days ago, and so the daffodil had nothing to prop it up. Some of the freesias are lying on the ground too, for the same reason.
Photo 4: Some more daffodils, little ones this time.
Photo 5: Red polyanthus.
Photo 6: Another little daffodil - standing up by itself, this time.
Photo 7: Blue daisies in my rose/geranium garden.
Photo 8: A couple of little swan plant flowers on one of my bushes! 😃
Photo 9: Rhubarb flowers. My rhubarb plant flowers prolifically. It also produces a lot of leaves and stems - I just harvested a bunch of stems from it the other day, and I am going to stew them up to eat on ice cream for dessert!!!!!!!! 😃 It tastes GREAT that way!!!!!!!!!!! 😃
Photo 10: Some of my cyclamens I just had to take a photo of.
Photos 11 & 12: A bumblebee climbing into my broadbean flowers I just had to take a photo of because it was so cute and cool. 😃
Photo 13: My red cyclamens I also just had to take a photo of. 😃
Photo 14: My osteospermum daisy plants by the landfill rubbish bin. 😃
Photo 15: My mint plant that's gone crazy what with all the rain.
Photo 16: My succulent garden - the best-looking of the lot.
Photo 17: My succulent begonia flowering.
Photo 18: My birdbath I just scrubbed out and refilled the other day - the pigeons love it so much it looks like it needs doing again. 😛 I hope you enjoyed looking at all these photos!!!!! 😃

ESSENTIAL SERVICES UNDER LOCKDOWN.

Linda from Henderson

I guess if you break your glasses not being able to SEE would not be classed an essential service under lockdown 3 or 4.
There needs to be so much more thought put into these never ending Auckland lockdowns.
Luckily I have found an old pair.

Recipe: Chicken Kiev

New Zealand School of Food & Wine

Inspired by the classic dish from the city of Kieve in Ukraine, Chicken Kiev is a dish made of chicken fillet pounded and rolled around cold butter, then coated with eggs and bread crumbs, and either fried or baked prepared by our Advanced cookery student Timmika at home during the lockdown.
