Words of Wisdom from Past to Present

Andrea from Eden Terrace

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Back yard camping ❤️

Kim Neighbourly Lead from Mount Roskill

My kids loved having the tent in the back yard, and they spent a lot of time out there "camping".
We can't go away for Easter, but we can still go "camping" in the back yard.
Do you have a tent? Put it up and enjoy some quiet time while the kids are well occupied outside.

While our doors are closed, you can still experience some of your favourite parts of Tāmaki Paenga Hira with us here online.

We've pulled together amazing stories, activities, videos and puzzles from our channels and archives into one Museum at Home hub, so you and your family can enjoy the Museum experience outside of our four walls.

Watch how volcanoes are made, make an exotic bird case come alive in a puzzle, read about when The Fiji Times was printed on Masi (bark-cloth) or see some never-before-seen photos of Sir Edmund Hillary and his expeditions.

We have included activities for kids, and for the young at heart, as well as long reads and videos for those who want to deep dive into life at the Museum. We'll be adding new things for you to read, watch and interact with regularly, so make sure to check back in.

Hi neighbours. It sounds almost like a social experiment or an episode of Big Brother – 23 flatmates are locked in a house together for a month.
But the residents of The Coh in Eden Terrace say there's no better place to be during the coronavirus lockdown.
The Coh is a co-living development with 22 bedrooms, nine bathrooms and a shared kitchen and living areas, including a cinema room.
The group is passing the time by playing board games, watching movies and having cooking competitions.
Fitness classes are being held in one of the living spaces at 7am and 6pm from Monday to Friday.
Is this a lockdown environment you'd like to be in?

In these times of uncertainty and trying to stay lockin sane, it's good to escape reality for a minute and have a laugh....so.....I wanted to let you know have just released my debut transformational travel memoir The Inside Hustle: A Mystical Misfit's Travel Adventure Into The Unknown today! I hope its ok to share here, as my neighbours did ask me to post it :) E-book only at the moment, sadly due to Covid.

Blurb: Ignite your inner adventurer and delve into the unknown on this journey of transformation. The Inside Hustle shakes off the ordinary for the extraordinary, delivering thought-provoking wisdom for the now moment with fierce authenticity, honesty and humour.

Living through 9/11 in New York, Joanna Walden experienced a moment of clarity, which propelled her to search for something greater than her 9-5 existence. Leaving her high-flying career on Madison Avenue behind her, she hikes the Camino de Santiago through Spain beginning the comedy of errors in her search for both purpose and a greater truth. Journeying around the globe she climbs Mount Kilimanjaro, imbibes plant medicine, consults energy healers and visits sacred sites, determined to solve the problem of herself. It’s sex, drugs & spirituality; an unconventional path from dark to light, and a modern version of personal evolution. It’s a transformational travel adventure taking you on a wild ride, which is as entertaining as it is enlightening. Are you ready to unlock the truth of who you really are?
