Gather your whanau and head to Devonport for the Staycation Scavenger Hunt!

Up until 31 March, New Zealand Red Cross are running a shop-window scavenger hunt on Victoria Road, Devonport for families to enjoy!

The scavenger hunt is based on the not-so-true story of Kanoa the clumsy Kākāpō, who has lost 10 holiday items in 10 different shop windows. Kanoa needs your help to find her missing items so she can enjoy her kiwi summer staycation to Devonport! Find all 10 and you can enter the prize draw to win some amazing prizes too!

Purchase your scavenger hunt map for $4 from Devonport library or from the New Zealand Red Cross website - 100% of the proceeds of the shop-window scavenger Hunt will go to New Zealand Red Cross!

A perfect activity for the school holidays or a sunny Saturday afternoon!

I'm certain I've seen something like this here in Aotearoa-NZ, but can't for the life of me recall where. It was in the back of the medicine cupboard. Let us know if you've seen, had - or have - one in your home.

What do you think about the incoming increased public transport fares?

On Monday, Auckland Council announced a 4 percent increase for peak-time travel with a discount approved for off-peak travel.

According to Auckland Transport (AT), some passengers would be paying an extra 35 cents per trip, with a daily maximum spend of $20 per day which for some, would mean an unlimited daily pass.

Former AT chairman Dr Lester Levy advocated for fare freezes have not been heeded in the 2021 review.

Hi neighbours,

Have you noticed that your windows are stiff, or the handle is a bit loose?
Depending on age, quality and probably a little bit determined by luck, different parts of a window can’t work anymore:

• Locking pins no longer lock exactly
• Window handle is difficult or difficult to turn
• Window sash does not fit properly in the frame (must be lifted or pushed in)
• Window handle wobbles

If you have windows that are stiff to open or close or leave big draught gaps give us a call on 0800 25 25 00 for a free estimate.
Hinges can easily be replaced without worrying about the cost of replacing the whole window.

I use public transport daily to commute to work. On an average, 25% commuters do not wear masks/coverings.
I spoke to some who don't, over past few days. Their casual response, "sorry I don't have one", "forgot"...
As far as I understand wearing of masks is mandatory on all public transport in Auckland, even at level 1. Exceptions do apply.
However with these excuses, what is the point in majority of commuters following rules, whilst a handful of them, just don't bother.
Is is alright to ask them or just leave them alone and change your seat?
Any other suggestions?
Is this complacency or irresponsible attitude- waiting for another outbreak in community?
So annoying

Kylie Klein Nixon Reporter from Homed

The great kiwi deck, every home should have one. But there's a decking debate raging in DIY and Reno circles: Should the grooves go up or down?
We think we've settled the argument here.
