Janet Lovelock from Papanui, Christchurch has won the category of Best Floral Garden for her stunning floral garden in this small space. Congratulations, Janet!

Janet and her husband both enjoy tending to their garden and shared this about their garden:
"We are both in our eighties and have lived in the Ngaio Marsh Retirement Village for three and a half years. Our passion for gardening spans many years. We change our display every six months to cover Spring and Summer.
The residents in the village regularly bring their visitors to see our display and take plenty of photographs. When you hear comments such as “It lifts my spirits when I get to this corner” you realise how much it means to everyone. We will continue to create a beautiful garden for as long as we are able."

This is a nice machine, but I no longer need it as I now have a Macbook Pro.

Apple iMac Core i5 2.7 - 21.5" (2013 model with 16GB RAM)

Has a clean install of Catalina (factory reset).

It has 16 GB of factory installed Ram (you can’t upgrade ram after purchase and most come with only 8 GB standard). This is in excellent condition. No chips, dents or scratches.

Specs
The iMac "Core i5" 2.7 21.5-Inch Aluminum features a 22 nm Quad Core 2.7 GHz Intel "Core i5" processor with four independent processor cores on a single chip, a 4 MB shared level 3 cache, 16 GB of 1600 MHz DDR3 SDRAM, a 1 TB (5400 RPM) hard drive, and an "integrated" Intel Iris Pro 5200 graphics processor with 128 MB of "Crystalwell" embedded DRAM. It also has a built-in "FaceTime HD" webcam and stereo speakers.

This model has a 21.5" 1920x1080 LED-backlit 16:9 widescreen IPS display with the "cover glass fully laminated to the LCD and anti-reflective coating." The rear of the case is aluminum and is thicker in the middle and tapers to a razor thin 5 mm at the edges.

Connectivity includes four USB 3.0 ports, dual Thunderbolt ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n compatible), and Bluetooth 4.0.

Compared to its predecessor, this model essentially has the same external enclosure, but it has a much more efficient "Fourth Generation" processor and architecture, as well as faster graphics, faster Wi-Fi, and the option of faster storage.

Price: $350

Mark Elliott from Shirley in Christchurch has won the category of Best Loved Lawn for his lush green masterpiece. Congratulations, Mark!

We spoke with his about his process to keep his lawn beautiful and there may be some blades of advice for your own backyard.

Mark has a huge backyard so during Covid times, he decided to renovate the lawn and garden just for something to do. It’s turned into a passion.

His lawn is 100% rye grass - sourced from Prebble Seeds Turf World who supply many golf courses around New Zealand. In the summer he mows it every 2-3 days, sometimes daily, and waters the lawn with a deep soak of about an hour at a time, 2-3 times a week. He uses a granular slow release lawn fertiliser and other liquid fertilisers also.

Mark shares:
'I would say the secret to getting a good lawn is consistent mowing - at least twice a week. Maybe buy a bulk bag of slow release lawn fertiliser from a wholesaler. Keep the grass longer and just take the very top off the blade when you mow. It promotes growth, thickens it up and will really help with stopping weeds - oh, and water. Expect a water bill if you want a good lawn.'

The first photo below shows the 'Before' shot, 4 years ago. Give Mark a Like on this post if you think his lawn is pretty top notch!
