Auckland University launches review into the safety of its staff
Kia ora neighbours. Auckland University has launched a review into the safety of its staff.
Microbiologist Siouxsie Wiles, an associate professor at the University of Auckland, is among academics who have spoken out about been targeted.
She received online abuse following her work on Covid-19. Last week, she was bullied and harassed while having breakfast at a Wellington hotel, while a far-right blogger livestreamed the interaction.
University spokeswoman Lisa Finucane confirmed a review was underway, but said the university could not comment further until it was complete.
“The safety of staff and students is always our priority,” she said.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
