Around Papatoetoe North school
·
🚸 Safer streets coming to Papatoetoe North School. Auckland Transport is making it safer and easier to walk outside Papatoetoe North School, with pedestrian upgrades coming to Graeme Avenue by January 2026.
These changes respond to community concerns about narrow footpaths, poor visibility, and unsafe parking — especially during school drop-off and pick-up times.
🛠️ What’s changing:
* Widening the footpath outside the school (eastern side, between 11–29 Graeme Ave)
* Removing an unused bus stop to add two new parking spaces
* Replacing concrete bollards with grass berms for improved safety
* Removing concrete buckets outside 8 and 25 Graeme Ave
* Installing “No stopping off roadway” signs to stop cars parking on grass berms
👟 Why it matters:
- Safer walking for tamariki, whānau, and the wider community
- Better visibility for pedestrians and drivers
- Less damage to berms and underground utilities
- Encourages parents to park safely away from the school gate
✅ This project is supported by the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board and delivered by Auckland Transport.

I once had guests, but now have none.
I’m rarely bloody and seldom blue.
I’m often promised and sometimes new

We all want our favourite spots to stay open, but we also have to balance our own budgets ⚖️
