World Elder Abuse Awareness Day in June!

Age Concern Counties Manukau Inc

15th June is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. It is estimated that approximately 10% of those aged 65+ experience some form of elder abuse (see our website for more information on prevalence etc.).

This year we are promoting connection as a way to prevent elder abuse! Connecting is something we can all do that would help to increase resilience against incidents of elder abuse in our communities and our whanau! Get together this June to celebrate WEAAD and connect over a cuppa.

We are also hosting a morning tea on Wednesday the 12th of June for you to pop in and get to know our social work team. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the issue of elder abuse faced by our community and how you can recognize when someone may be experiencing it. Drop in between 9:30am - 11:30am at Cambria Park Homestead, 250 Puhinui Road, Papatoetoe.

Got more greens than you know what to do with? 🥦🌱🥕

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Whether it’s a courgette takeover or a feijoa frenzy, don’t let those garden gems go to waste!

Our suggestion to you: Did you know you can grate and freeze excess courgettes to use in chocolate cake later? It sounds a bit dodgy, but it makes the cake incredibly moist ... and hey, it counts as a serving of veg, right? 🍫
