They and their families are finally being settled into the communities of South and East Auckland with the help of the New Settlers Family and Community Trust www.nfact.co.nz... . Their priorities are learning English and settling their children into schools. They have jumped at the chance to learn either on-line with Zoom or face-to-face in classes where they can meet and make new friends. You may have a new neighbour who looks different to you. Remember, greetings are universal and a warm, welcoming “hello” and “how are you”? will make all the difference to new, New Zealanders and their families feeling comfortable in their new communities. You might also share some Maori greetings – their children will be learning these at school.
