Proposed Sale of the Mt Wellington Community Assets

Allyson from Panmure

On July 24th 2024 the Mount Wellington Licensing Trust trustees advised the community that they had voted to sell the assets controlled by the Mount Wellington Trust Hotels Ltd and to restructure the Mount Wellington Licensing Trust into a community trust.

The MWLT Board members did not at any time seek a mandate from the community it serves to either sell these assets or convert the Licensing Trust into a Community Trust using the proceeds of such a sale.

The Mount Wellington Licensing Trust controls the Mount Wellington Trust Hotels Ltd who managed the Panmure Historic Hotel and Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre.

There is an online petition asking for a halt to the sales process and for the Mount Wellington Licensing Trust to consult and gain a mandate from the community beneficiaries.

The online petition link: www.petitions.net...

The Mount Wellington Licensing Trust area covers, Mount Wellington, Panmure, Tamaki, and part of Stonefields, and Otahuhu. If you live in the area this is your opportunity to have a say on what happens to your community assets and trust.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Night-time chipsealing works on SH2

NZ Transport Agency (NZTA)

From 9 to 17 February, stop/go traffic management will be in place on SH2 between McPherson Road and Dimmock Road on multiple nights between 9pm and 5am (Sundays to Thursdays).

During the day, all lanes will be open, but speed restrictions will apply to allow the chipseal to set and to protect vehicles travelling over the newly laid surface.

There may be delays to your journey when travelling through the area. This is weather dependent so check NZTA Journey Planner before you travel.
