Kia ora
My name is Jalayne Duncan co-founder of Eastern area of Tamaki Makaurau kapa haka rōpū named Te Uku Tōia. I made a post about 4 yrs ago inviting all to come and join the phone number and email are still valid. (phone - 092819708 email - teroopuunoteukutoia@gmail.com) if you have any queries.
We are a community based kapa, mainly encouraging tikanga māori, learning waiata and the origin (history), supporting community/whānau kaupapa (projects) and our biggest event would be participating in the Tāmaki Makaurau Kapa Haka Regional Competition, which is held every two yrs. You may want to be part of the rōpū (performing), kitchen team (cooks) or kakahu team (sewing) we welcome all.
We welcome all to come and join or be part of our rōpū, we have many cultures within our rōpū.
Thank you for your time.
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59.3% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
26.2% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
14.5% ... It is complicated
Carpet inspection needed
Hi
I've just had new carpet laid throughout my house. I'm not happy with the result, as pieces don't match where they should, and in a hallway there are 5 joins where should not have been more than two. The supplier says there's nothing wrong. I would like a professional carpet person to look at it for an independent assessment. Does anyone know of someone who could do this?

Poll: Should complete designs be shared with the public, or should the community help shape the designs from the start?
The Post recently shared an opinion piece on the Harbour Crossing and why a more democratic approach might be needed 🚗🚲👟
While most decisions sit within the political arena, many organisations—like NZTA—manage long-term projects that go beyond party lines. Politics can sometimes disrupt progress, and the next Harbour Crossing is a big decision that will affect all Aucklanders.
We’d love your thoughts: Should near-complete, shovel-ready designs be shared with the public, or should the community have a hand in shaping the designs from the start?
-
80.4% Community feedback and transparency is needed.
-
19.6% No. This would be impossible in practice.
