At CAB, we regularly help people with questions about their rights when buying goods, including toys. The law requires retailers to sell toys that are safe, but here are Six Safety Checks you can do yourself before you buy a toy and that can make all the difference for your tamariki:

πŸ–Size – big enough not to choke
πŸ–Surface – smooth edges, no cracks or jagged bits, no sharp bits
πŸ– Strings – not too long
πŸ– Supervision – some toys need you there
πŸ– Sound – not too loud for little ears
πŸ– Specs – Check the packaging for information on hazards, small parts and the right age range for tamariki.

Safer toys = safer tamariki. Easy as!

πŸ’• Last Friday, the volunteers at Botany and Pakuranga CABs held a fundraiser for Sweet Louise. Sweet Louise supports men and women with advanced (incurable) breast cancer.

🌸 We enjoyed a shared lunch with quite a pink theme! The baking quiz wasn't as easy as some thought with the question about Snickerdoodle biscuits catching people out. But we had fun. πŸ™‚ Many thanks to the Social Team for making sure it was an occasion to remember. πŸ‘

Grateful thanks to our sponsors and supporters and a big shoutout to freshchoicehalfmoonbay for donating a very generous hamper for the occasion.

We would also like to thank Carolyn Bruce Designs - Statement Jewelry for donating some of her gorgeous work for our fundraiser. πŸ’•
We were thrilled to raise $1183. πŸ™

Poll: Yay or nay to tourist fees? πŸŒπŸ’°

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Kiwis love tourism ... it brings in cash and connection. But with more visitors comes more pressure on our beautiful places, housing, and local infrastructure.

So what’s the fix? Should we bring in a tourism tax or focus on spreading visitors beyond the hotspots to ease the load? πŸ‘‡
