Basils all planted out now!!!!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Bought four of 'em from Countdown when I went to do my grocery shopping just before. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Nothing else was growing in that garden except a pumpkin, a rhubarb and some small silverbeets - the beans certainly haven't come up. Were you there? 1960s photo of Auckland Star employees restored

Ripu Bhatia Reporter from Auckland Stuff

A photograph capturing the staff at the Auckland Star in the 1960s has been discovered and restored.

A photograph capturing the staff at the Auckland Star in the 1960s has been discovered and restored.

Tony Lawson, 85, received the photograph from his friend Don Armitage, whose father Jack is pictured in the photograph.

โ€œThe photo came to me in a very poor condition,โ€ he said.

โ€œHowever, my youngest daughter's close friend who is a graphic artist has done a few hours work on this and has come up with an amazing improvement.โ€

Lawson started working for the Auckland Star in 1964.

โ€œIn those days it was hot metal, as they called it, a line of type writers going like the clappers,โ€ he said.

โ€œThe noise was something, itโ€™s a wonder weโ€™re all not stone bloody deaf. It was 1976 they were all gearing up to go into the computers.โ€

He estimates the photograph was taken in the 1960s.

This urban adventure can be joined at a number of access points; from Shore Road and also via flights of steps that lead down to the bay from a series of Parnell streets. Some parts of the walkway are tidal and require manoeuvring over sand and stones, silty mud or under low hanging bows of pลhutukawa. Other parts are approached over a series of formed paths and built-up wooden boardwalks.

I have been fortunate, through this extended lockdown, to have time to observe the walkway in more detail and am captivated by this natural world at our doorstep.

Andrew Slater, chief executive of Whakarongorau Aotearoa, which runs Healthline, said the advice given is in line with the latest guidelines from the Ministry of Health and Immunisation Advisory Centre, and is supported by a clinical governance group.

Slater urged people not to sit on questions stopping them from getting vaccinated, adding that the service is presented with all kinds of curly questions.

โ€œAsk us anything. We wonโ€™t judge. You can be anonymous when you call.โ€

Join the rest of the motu on October 28 by taking part in our national earthquake drill and tsunami hฤซkoi, ShakeOut. Signing up only takes 2 minutes and when you do, youโ€™ll be entered to win a personal emergency grab bag or civil defence wheelie bin kit from NZ Civil Defence.
ShakeOut takes place around the world to remind people of the right action to take during an earthquake:

DROP - down on your hands and knees. This protects you from falling but lets you move if you need to.

COVER - your head and neck (or entire body if possible) under a sturdy table or desk (if it is within a few steps of you). If there is no shelter nearby, cover your head and neck with your arms and hands.

HOLD - on to your shelter (or your position to protect your head and neck) until the shaking stops. If the shaking shifts your shelter around, move with it.

Head to www.shakeout.govt.nz... to sign up today and get involved!
