Free Guitar lessons - Fridays in Onehunga
Develop literacy and numeracy skills while learning to play the guitar. Arun Andrews will teach you to play the guitar - basic chords, majors, minors, progressions, root notes, constructions etc. And while learning guitar you'll improve in literacy and numeracy as well. Offered free as a community service through the Royal Oak SDA church, 48 Mt Smart Rd, Onehunga. Registration essential. Course begins 16th February from 10 - 3 pm. Poll: Should we be giving the green light to new mining projects? 💰🌲
The Environmental Protection Authority announced this week that a proposed mine in Central Otago (near Cromwell) is about to enter its fast-track assessment process. A final decision could come within six months, and if it’s approved, construction might start as early as mid-2026.
We want to know: Should mining projects like this move ahead?

How to avoid car break-ins and there's lots on information in this newsletter & the stats for Onehunga's crime incidents - e.g. 10 " theft ex car" - please stop leaving valuables in sight, take them with you. !!
Now ...some good news.....
On a whole, reported crime for Onehunga specifically relating to burglary and vehicle crime has trended low each month for the whole of 2025 compared to previous years with some of the lowest months on record for these offence.
