New Northcote Park Opening Soon
Northcote's newest pocket park is expected to be open in early June.
The new park on the corner of Richardson Place and Whakamua Parade in the new Northcote development is tentatively called "Richardson Park", however an official Te Reo name is expected to be gifted by Mana Whenua for the park in due course.
The design includes in-ground trampolines, a basket swing, sheltered BBQ area, children’s tables, an artificial turf area made from recycled materials, an open grass area, and new plantings.
The new park connects to the Te Ara Awataha greenway via a series of stepping blocks and balance beams along Whakamua Parade.
Thanks to Kāinga Ora, Piritahi, TOBA and Isthmus for developing the park as part of the Northcote Development. The park is expected to transfer to the Kaipatiki Local Board at a later date.
