The people who live in Ryman villages remain true to themselves, whether that’s continuing with their passion, making the most of every minute, challenging themselves to learn something new, or surrounding themselves with people who like to have fun.
As Lynette, a resident at Edmund Hilary village, says “A lot of people still believe that you're going to a rest home. They don't know the concept of a retirement village. You go there, it's beautiful. You've got facilities. You've got activities. And you don't stop living.”
Retirement is a chapter of life that’s filled with possibility. Choose the lifestyle you want to live and proudly embrace every opportunity. It’s what Ryman residents do.

Well done to Kaipātiki on the high COVID-19 vaccination uptake!
The latest data (as of Tuesday 5 October) shows that for the Kaipātiki Local Board area (west of the motorway and south of Sunset Rd), 89% of people over 12 years old have received their first dose and 53% have received the second. I expect the second dose figure to go up over the coming weeks to match the first dose figure, so we're well on-track to 90% coverage.
The rates are a little lower for our local Māori and Pacific Island communities, but still very high at 72% and 79% respectively.

Meanwhile, the wider North Shore is tracking well with 90% first dose for the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board area; 86% for the Hibiscus And Bays Local Board area; and 89% for the Upper Harbour Local Board area.

Apparently a consultant will be finalising findings and recommendations, but I think its important for us to see the actual results. We've waited long enough.
Attached is an Official Information request that I've submitted to Auckland Transport (CAS-451510-T5G3F6). I should have a response by 29 October.

From: John Gillon (Kaipatiki Local Board)
Sent: Thursday, 30 September 2021 14:18
To: officialinformation@at.govt.nz <officialinformation@at.govt.nz>

Subject: LGOIMA: Onewa Road Clearway Consultation

To whom it may concern,
Please provide under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA) all emails, memos, reports and any other applicable correspondence and documentation, dated from 1 November 2020 to present, relating to the results of the public consultation on options to change the clearway on Onewa Road that was undertaken from November-December 2020, including (but not limited to):

* the raw data results of the public consultation, including any feedback or commentary received through the consultation (the participants’ personal details are not required for this LGOIMA request),
* any existing charts, graphs or tabulations that have been produced in relation to the data (however, if these do not yet exist, I do not want this LGOIMA request to be delayed while they are created),
* reasons for the delay in making the results public (the public were advised that the results would be reported in March 2021),
* any estimated costings for the proposed changes, and details of any budget that has already been tagged to implementing the changes.

For reference, the Auckland Council webpage relating to the consultation is:
at.govt.nz...

The four options that were consulted on were:
* Option 1) Maintain the current parking arrangement on Onewa Road
Parking would still be available outside of peak hours when the T3 lanes aren’t operational.
* Option 2) Extend the Onewa Road clearway to all hours
No vehicles would be able to park on Onewa Road at any time.
* Option 3) Extend the clearway hours to run from 7am to 7pm on weekdays.
Vehicles would no longer be able to park on Onewa Road unless it’s after hours or during weekends.
* Option 4) Extend the clearway hours to run from 7am to 7pm everyday
Vehicles would no longer be able to park on Onewa Road unless it is after hours.

Thankyou

Cheers :)

Auckland Transport are proposing to lower the official speed limits on 800 Auckland roads, particularly around schools. Public consultation is now open.
Locally, the proposal includes lowering the speed limit from 50kph to 30kph on Verran Road, West Glade Cres and Caram Place for Verran Primary School.
Elsewhere on the North Shore, there are proposals to lower speeds around Sunnynook Primary School, Hauraki Primary School, Mairangi Bay Primary School, Murrays Bay Primary School, Long Bay Primary School and Long Bay College.

The schools that AT have chosen are those where vehicles already effectively travel at or close to 30kph anyway. Schools where engineering (such as speed humps) would be required to lower speeds, are not included in the proposal.
All other schools will be looked at once the "Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2021" change is implemented.

Consultation is open now until Thursday 14 November.

For more information and to give feedback on the proposal, see:
at.govt.nz...

Note: This proposal is not related to the speed-reduction trials underway around Willow Park School, Glenfield Primary School and Birkdale Primary School.
