Thank You Neighbours!

Maurice from New Windsor

I want to say thanks to our caring New Windsor community. On Saturday afternoon I went to the supermarket and when I got home I thought I would leave my car running to give the battery a charge as I have been working from home since Covid and the car had been sitting for a while. I intended to return and turn the car off after about half hour or so. Yes you can guess. Like a ding bat I went inside, packed things away, got distracted, and forgot all about the car. In the morning I am relaxing when I hear someone in my house. Next thing I see a guy in my kitchen and he says "we were worried, are you ok........." (I am in my dressing gown - if it couldn't get more embarrassing). The evening before one of my neighbours had spotted the car running when he walked to the dairy. The next morning he noticed it was still running and mentioned it others. They came to my house to check that I was all right, and had even rung the police to say they thought something may be wrong. I was ok, if not very embarrassed. Feeling rather sheepish at the time I don't think I thanked them properly for their caring, observant, community feel. So big thanks to you all, you really made me realise how lucky I am to have neighbours, and a community, like you. PS: I did rang the police to let them know also lol. Love to you all. Kia kaha, Maurice

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
