Waiheke community vows Kennedy Point marina fight 'ain’t over yet'
Kia ora neighbours,
Opponents of the marina at Kennedy Point have vowed to continue their fight, even as construction at Pūtiki Bay gathers pace.
Hundreds packed the Ostend War Memorial Hall on Sunday, with Whaea Kathryn Ngapo opening with a statement that became the theme of the afternoon: “It ain’t over yet”.
The meeting closed a week when tensions flared at the beach occupation. On Thursday, police descended on the beach and three protesters were arrested.
Ngā uri o Ngāti Pāoa (descendents of Ngāti Pāoa) are the force behind the occupation and the 15,000-strong petition for Council and government to instigate a review of the consent.

Age Well Kiwi
We are a new support group for seniors. We meet once a month to share our experience and discuss our challenges & concerns.
With the growth of our ageing population, and more seniors living alone, this group would explore and advocate/address the social, emotional and physical needs of our seniors, and promote positive and healthy ageing.
We meet on the first Saturday afternoon of the month in Mt. Roskill. Our next meeting will be 3 Jan 2026.
If you are interested in joining us and contribute your ideas, knowledge, experience, talents and resources, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us at agewellkiwi@gmail.com.
