Alberton Market Days are back!

Its Alberton Market Day on Sunday! With 40 stalls of specialty produce, handmade goods and plants as well as street food by some of Auckland's top food vendors (Wise Boys Burgers, Bun Hun, Sabores, The Hungry Swine, Lulu’s Icecream), its going to be a cracker!

The vintage tearoom will be open and there will be plenty to entertain the young ones with Enchanted Walk fairy trail the garden, a fairy face-painter and a magic pebble painting activity.

Owairaka Eco Neighbourhoods will be showcasing some of their creative community projects and offering free seed planting for children. Pot a bee-friendly plant in an egg-carton cup to take away for your garden!

Live music by brother & sister duo Jasper & Jane Hawkins will create the summer soundtrack for the day. Make any purchase to be in to win a HUGE hamper of goodies donated to by all the stallholders!

Come along to enjoy the ambiance of the garden and beautiful heritage setting and support our great small entrepreneurs, makers and growers.

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?
