Aucklanders invited to give feedback on Auckland Council's recovery budget
Hi Aucklanders,
Have you had your say on Auckland Council's recovery budget for 2021 to 2031?
You have until March 22 to give your feedback on the council's proposed 10-year budget, to highlight what is important to you and how it should be paid for.
Auckland’s recovery budget will increase the council’s total capital investment in the city from $26 billion to $31 billion over the next 10 years.
The investment will deliver infrastructure for transport, housing and water along with helping to stimulate jobs and boost the economy.
It will respond to the impacts of climate change, protect the environment, and provide essential services to Aucklanders.
The budget sets out a continued focus on savings to manage the loss of council income from the financial fallout of COVID-19, with cumulative losses projected to reach around $1 billion by 2024.
Which council services are important to you?
How do you think they should be funded?

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

59.6% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
26% No, individuals should take responsibility
