We Say/You Say: Coastal Erosion

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Hi Auckland,

How worried are you about coastal erosion in Auckland?

Auckland's shoreline could recede by 200m by 2130 if little to no action on climate change is taken.

The report, titled "Predicting Auckland's exposure to coastal instability and erosion", details the impacts this will have on communities the Auckland region.

Sea level rise is notoriously difficult for scientists to follow and this has meant coastal erosion rates have been difficult to predict.

New Zealand's sea levels have risen an average 1.67mm per year since 1989, but the Ministry of Environment says this will accelerate if little action is taken on climate change.

What do you think should be done about it? Share your thoughts below and don't forget to type NFP if you don't want your comments used in your local community newspaper.

Covid-19: locations of interest linked to border worker case

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Three locations of interest have been announced in relation to the Auckland Airport border worker who tested positive for Covid-19.

The fully-vaccinated employee, who works cleaning planes that have come from countries with a high-risk of Covid-19, tested positive for the virus on Tuesday.

The locations of interest were visited on Saturday April 17 and include:

- Westfield St Lukes Food Court, between 12:15pm and 2:30pm
- Bunnings New Lynn, between 2:30pm and 3:50pm
- Movenpick Dominion Road, between 5:15pm to 7:20pm

The Ministry of Health said people who were at these places are considered casual contacts and should monitor their health and be aware of any symptoms of Covid-19.

If anyone develops symptoms they should stay at home, contact Healthline on 0800 358 5453 and get a test.
