ShakeOut takes place around the world to remind people of the right action to take during an earthquake:
DROP - down on your hands and knees. This protects you from falling but lets you move if you need to.
COVER - your head and neck (or entire body if possible) under a sturdy table or desk (if it is within a few steps of you). If there is no shelter nearby, cover your head and neck with your arms and hands.
HOLD - on to your shelter (or your position to protect your head and neck) until the shaking stops. If the shaking shifts your shelter around, move with it.

Some good news!
Cervical and Breast Screening mobile clinics are available at Avondale Community Centre (99 Rosebank Road, Avondale) on 13,14, 20 and 21 October 2021 from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.
Our cervical screening clinic is operating 4 days per week at level 3. These are Monday to Wednesday 8.00 am to 5.00 pm and Saturday’s from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm.
You will find us at 14 / 49 Sainsbury Road, St Lukes Business Park, Mt Albert.
Please call us to look up your cervical screening details and or arrange an appointment 09 8467886/0212722786. We wish to ensure that we have strict protocols in place to keep you safe while you are in our care. If you have any questions, please call us.

Noisy overnight Road works on Dominion Road expected to last 16 continuous nights
Extremely noisy, over night road works are happening on Dominion Road and are expected to carry on for the next 14 nights without a break. Furthermore, they apparently don't have a permit to do this work. Yesterday, I called the Auckland Council after having absolutely no sleep on Sunday night… View moreExtremely noisy, over night road works are happening on Dominion Road and are expected to carry on for the next 14 nights without a break. Furthermore, they apparently don't have a permit to do this work. Yesterday, I called the Auckland Council after having absolutely no sleep on Sunday night due to these road works. I was informed that the Road work company did not have a permit to do this work and that it is expected to carry on for 16 nights. Auckland council assured me I could contact noise control if they continued to work at nights and they would help sort this out. When the road workers started working the second night (Monday night), I contacted Noise Control as advised and I was informed that there was nothing they could do as the noise was not continuously excessive. However, the noise gets extreme at intermittent times. It feels like toture to have to spend the next 14 nights without sleep. People who work are not able to sleep during the day. Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be sorted out?

The measure about 5.2 on the flat and 1.0 wide. At an angle stepping up to 2.4 metres they span a length of 4.9 metres.

My elderly cat Oscar (18) was attacked yesterday by yet another irresponsible owner who obviously can't deal with the simple things in life, like putting a lead on their dog when out walking it.

He was attacked in front of our house. I do not know whether he will survive from this attack by a dog which looks very similar to a bull mastiff.
Absolutely sick to death of people not keeping their dogs on a lead and not keeping it under control.
It is against the law to not have your dog on a lead in public.
This is the second time in a year that one of my furs has been attacked by a dog with it's owner there with it. Taylah (dog) was attacked while we were out walking (my dog was on a lead) by one of our fellow neighbours dogs a labrador, who clearly thinks that dog regulation rules don't apply to her when she goes out walking.
Same as the lady yesterday whose dog attacked my cat.
I have seen two, TWO dogs this morning out for their morning stroll - and guess what! Both were off lead.
If I see you AND your dog off lead, I will now be taking a photo and lodging a complaint with Animal Management.
If you walk your dog off lead, I suggest you think twice about doing it. Take some personal responsibility about dog ownership. If your dog is registered you will in fact know you are breaking the law by not having it on a lead and under control.
