Thanks re guava moth and backyard orchards

David from Pakuranga Heights

Hi Neighbours. Re my issue with the dreaded guava moth which lays eggs on all kinds of fruit. You may remember my plea during summer to pick up and destroy windfall fruit. Many thanks to those who did. By breaking the cycle in the early part of the season, it meant less damage in the latter part. The recent fruit season was the best I've had since the guava moth scourge hit us. I eliminated about 200 guava grubs, drowned in a bucket of water. Late in the season I had about 10% of plums untouched, and about 50% of peaches. Good work. We must fight back. Take care, David H.

Poll: Should you ask before planting tall shrubs/trees near your property line?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

It may be fine now but in a few years trees can block out light or views for neighbours.

Do you think neighbours should ask before they go ahead and plant these?
