What you need to know:
- A large fire which broke out in the Auckland suburb of Favona overnight has been contained.
- Fire is causing a large plume of toxic smoke and South Auckland residents were advised to close all windows and doors and wear a mask as a precaution. The wind has now changed and Greenlane, Ellerslie, Mt Wellington and Penrose are also affected.
- King's College in Ōtāhuhu is closed today due to the smoke.
- Auckland’s train network is completely down with KiwiRail asked to evacuate its control centre.

As a semi retired driving instructor I used to own one of Auckland's well known driving schools. I am now offering people my driving lessons experience for free with all the tips and tricks on how to pass a driving test. Most parents do a great job of coaching their children but don't have the tools to get up to test standard. Tips like how to navigate roundabouts and do observation points, lane changing procedures, flush medians, merging, speed zones, how and when to do the MIB - men in black procedures etc and the list goes on.
Please Note : I am trying out this new strategy to save people heaps on driving lessons and also it's a neighbourly gesture so learners can pass their test at VTNZ and avoid critical errors.
We are very excited to announce there will be a ballot for out-of-zone enrolments at Sunnynook Primary School. Applications for 3 out-of-zone places in Year 2 are now being invited. An opportunity exists as several former members of Retrogrand covers band have reunited along with some new folks, and the band is looking for a Drummer.The band line up is currently Keys Bass Two Guitars and Two Singers with others singing and adding harmonies.
We are experienced musicians and normal, easy to get along with folks, working on current and new material. This may suit an older mature person as most of the age group are 55 plus, though all comers considered.
