What next.
When I called their 0800 number to ask what's going on I was treated to sarcastic denial that there is a problem and finally the question: "Is there anything else you'd like to talk about today?"
It's now 2pm Saturday 25 Feb. I'll bet those bags are still sitting on my front berm tomorrow. Wonder what they're being paid...

Children and Dogs in Hot Cars

Karen from Totara Vale

It's sad to see how many children and dogs are still dying after being left in cars.
A hot car can be deadly within 10 minutes and heat stroke is not a fun way to die.

The device pictured will break car windows and also cut seat belts. Very handy. Mine lives on my key chain of course and I wouldn't hesitate to break your car window to get your overheated dog or child out of your car! Mine is a 'resqme' made in USA. Bought it online.

Auckland Emergency Services are asking people to stay away from West Coast beach communities which are trying to recover from last week’s storm.

What you need to know:
- The affected beaches are Piha, Karekare, Bethells, Muriwai, Huia and Little Huia
- The beaches have been closed to non-residents only
- The closures are for safety and to ensure road repairs can take place

“While there is road access into Piha, it’s limited and we’re asking people not to go to Piha to go surfing or picnicking, I know we may have a fine weekend coming up but to stay away out of respect for those communities,” Duty controller Mace Ward says.

If you are wanting to check swimming conditions in other areas of Auckland, check the SwimSafe site.
