Blues music feature with Darren Watson on East FM, Saturday arvo

Phil from Farm Cove

With tropical storm clouds overhead, rain on the way and winds a’gustin’, the blues is in the air and on the playlist as we feature the accomplished roots music of Darren Watson on this arvo’s She’ll Be Right on Saturdays Show with PJ Taylor, 3-7pm (NZ time) on East FM.
It is 18 months since we had the pleasure of a visit to the She’ll Be Right Show by Watson, Aotearoa NZ’s king of the blues, and we’ll be talking to him live on the phone from Wellington at 4.45pm, before we play his brilliant 2020 album, Getting Sober For The End Of The World, in entirety at 5pm.
It has been one of our constant go-to albums during this Covid era, released as we went into the first five-week lockdown almost two years ago. It also features a well-overdue tribute in memory to Ernie Abbott, the unfortunate innocent man who was in the wrong place at the wrong time when killed in the tragic Wellington Trades Hall bombing in the 1980s:

We’re also in the mood for some salvational soul by The Staple Singers; and timeless folk-pop from legendary songwriter and performer Carole King, 80 this week; while also remembering soul singer Betty Davis, who passed at 76 days ago.
We’ll also take our usual tour of all the music neighbourhoods on The She’ll Be Right Show with PJ, beaming out of East FM, East Auckland’s vibrant community-powered public service radio station, on 88.1FM and 107.1FM on local frequencies, nationally and globally at www.eastfm.nz... and on app iHeart Radio.
It’s all about the vibe; it’s all about the groove. – PJ… Don't know why there's no sun up in the sky, stormy weather…

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Poll: As a customer, what do you think about automation?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Press investigates the growing reliance on your unpaid labour.

Automation (or the “unpaid shift”) is often described as efficient ... but it tends to benefit employers more than consumers.

We want to know: What do you think about automation?
Are you for, or against?
