Soldiers Bay Place, Birkenhead
I'm very pleased that Soldiers Bay Place is now live! The lower half of Kauri Road (Off Balmain Road) was formally renamed by the Kaipatiki Local Board in April, and now the new street sign has been installed, and the street is showing correctly on Google Maps. This should hopefully solve the issues that residents were having with emergency services, couriers and visitors not being able to find their properties due to Kauri Road being split in the middle by bush.
Thanks to Local Board member Adrian Tyler for raising this issue on behalf of residents kickstarting the name-change process.
NOTE: The properties near the entrance of Soldiers Bay Place that have been using a Balmain Road address have the option to change to a Soldiers Bay Place address by contacting the Kaipātiki Local Board, or continue to use their current Balmain Road address.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
Do you think this ban is reasonable?
