117km Solidarity Run at Kohi Beach

Hira Siddiqui from Citizens Advice Bureau Pakuranga/Eastern Manukau

This appeal is for one of CAB Pakuranga’s clients. Despite the combined efforts of a passionate team brought together by the client’s desperate situation, she may still not be allowed to remain in New Zealand. This is the only true home she has ever known. She feels safe here. Please help us to help her to live a life of safety and peace.

Assalam walaikum & Tēnā koe,
I’m reaching out on behalf of the Khadija Leadership Network (KLN) with an invitation to support a community-led campaign that centres migrant women’s safety, justice, and collective action.

On Saturday, July 19 at 9am, we’re hosting a 117km Solidarity Run at Kohi Beach, Auckland, but this is not just a run.

This is a fundraiser to raise $7,000 for a woman making her final appeal for a Victims of Family Violence Residency visa, after her first application was denied, despite clear evidence of abuse and serious risk to her safety.

The 117km distance is symbolic. It honours the 117 people who applied for this visa in 2021, a stark reminder of how few are able to access the protections they need.

How you can support:
Join us in person – we have 25 spots only due to permit limits. If 2–3 of your team would like to run, we’d be honoured to feature your organisation’s support in our comms and social media.

Registration is $25, and participants can pledge to run 1–10km, either on the day at Kohi Beach or anytime before or on July 19 from wherever they are.

Funds raised will directly support her legal appeal.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Poll: 🤖 What skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Reserve Bank has shared some pretty blunt advice: there’s no such thing as a “safe” job anymore 🛟😑

Robots are stepping into repetitive roles in factories, plants and warehouses. AI is taking care of the admin tasks that once filled many mid-level office jobs.

We want to know: As the world evolves, what skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?
