Safety improvements planned for Glen Eden in west Auckland

Caryn Wilkinson Reporter from Community News

Safety will be boosted for road users and pedestrians in Glen Eden town centre thanks to $5 million of planned improvements.

The upgrades aim to calm traffic and protect people crossing the road in West Coast Rd and Glendale Rd.

Improvements are also planned for Captain Scott Rd between the West Coast Rd and Oates Rd intersection.

“Glen Eden was chosen for this Vision Zero flagship project because West Coast Road is a high-risk arterial road that needs transformational change to make the town centre safe,” said Greg Presland, Waitakere Ranges local board chairman.

“This is a really neat little town centre and, with the development we see happening around us, we want it to be as safe as possible for the people choosing to call it home.”

Transport agency Waka Kotahi NZ is funding 75 per cent of the project cost.

Go to at.govt.nz... for more information on the upgrade.

Which other roads in west Auckland do you think would benefit from safety improvements?
