New music, innit, on East FM, Saturday from midday...
New music galore by Kiwi artists Hot Sauce Club Band, Sonic Delusion, Marmalade, The Larry Normans, Jarrod Ross, and Fin Rah Zel takes us on a voyage of discovery on tomorrow’s EARLIER She’ll Be Right on Saturdays Show with PJ Taylor, MIDDAY to 4pm (NZ time, June 17) on East FM.
And we’ve got two live interview chats, with Max Came of Hot Sauce Club Band at 2pm, and Liam Nuttall of Marmalade at 3.15pm.
Hot Club Sauce Band, a guitar-based rock-pop five-piece of uni students out of Dunedin, also includes Jack Crowe, Rory Humm, Ethan Kelland and Simon Roberts, and their winter tour steers them to Auckland for two gigs next weekend – at Whammy Bar on June 23, and at Piha RSA on June 24. hotsauceclub.bandcamp.com...
Marmalade are an upbeat, newly-formed Auckland quintet, whose first single Better did exactly that – No. 2 on last week’s NZ Top 10 singles chart. Making up Marmalade are Nuttall, our mate Koen Aldershof, Dean Rodrigues, Chelsea Naepi, and Jemilah Ross-Hayes. They’ve got the single release party for Better at Big Fan next Thursday, June 22.
Another SBR mate based in Taranaki, Andre Manella, is on tour in no doubt hot and sunny Europe, as Sonic Delusion, a high-energy solo performer who has played more than 1000 live shows across Switzerland, NZ, Australia and Germany over the past decade, releasing five studio albums and countless singles. We’ll be spinning his new single, Be Free (out today, June 16). Andre says: “It sends a strong motivational message to encourage dreamers to follow their passion, even if that can mean taking a leap and quitting your day job to pursue your life goals.”
And! regularly, the good folk at Blackout Music send us releases by Kiwi music artists, and it’s time to revel in recent singles out from The Larry Normans (Coup De Gras), Jarrod Ross (Just a Habit), and Fin Rah Zel (Closer), the latter an emerging four-piece also out of Taranaki.
The Larry Normans are back rocking after a decade hiatus, with Coup De Gras an early single in advance of their new album, Dirty Living, out on July 28. thelarrynormans.com
And Jarrod Ross has a debut solo album on the way, with Just a Habit an early single. He’s the former guitarist-frontman for Auckland rock band Valedictions, and bass player for the acclaimed Flying Nun-signed indie-rockers Pan Am.
East FM is East Auckland’s fair-dinkum community-powered public service radio station, on 88.1FM and 107.1FM on local frequencies, nationally and globally at www.eastfm.nz... and on app iHeart Radio.
She’ll Be Right - it’s all about the vibe; it’s all about the groove. And tomorrow we discover new material by talented Kiwi musos. Aye! – PJ

🪱🐦 When are you the most productive? 🌙🦉
The Post has been diving into our daily habits, and research suggests being an early bird or a night owl isn’t just a choice—it’s biology! We all have that specific time when our brains finally "click" into gear.
This raises a big question for the modern workplace. To get the best out of everyone, should employers accommodate our natural body clocks? This idea is at the heart of the four-day work week and flexible scheduling movements.
We want to hear from you:
1. When does your brain "click" into gear?
2. Would a flexible (or shortened) schedule change the way you work?
