Coach or Mentor - Help Someone Thrive!
Are you passionate about teaching life skills, building confidence, and guiding personal growth? A friendly, motivated woman in her 30s with Down Syndrome is looking for support to take her independence to the next level. She loves singing, dancing, movies, writing, reading and walks by the beach.
We’re looking for a mentor who can set goals, create learning opportunities, and provide guidance in a supportive, engaging way. You’ll need initiative, creativity, and great communication skills to help her navigate her increasing independence. She wants to increase her friendships and build the skills to get a new job, your ability to build her self-awareness and her concrete skills will help her to progress these valuable goals.
You will support her to develop her independence skills, from navigating the community to managing daily tasks. You will encourage confidence and communication through real-world experiences like meals out and attending community events. The key is to support her journey towards greater independence through structured, but flexible learning moments.
The role is 5 - 10 hours per week. Maybe on Tuesday evening, Friday afternoon and one Saturday afternoon per month. But we can adjust the plan to suit the right person. You need a full licence and a vehicle to be successful in this role.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
