Two dozen sacred tā moko tools stolen from West Auckland studio
Kia ora neighbours,
Two dozen traditional tā moko tools have been stolen from an Auckland studio, including artist Mokonui-a-rangi Smith late teacher.
The tools, considered tapu (sacred) will need to be remade and handcrafted again as it is made with "ancestral knowledge".
However, Smith's late teacher's tools are irreplaceable. If you know more, contact police quoting the file number 210725/4878.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
