We need your help
Your photos can become part of the greater good.
All you need to do is download the iNaturalist app and take photos of any plant, animal, insect and fungi you see in your backyard and/or local reserve.
It is so easy.
Why not help us out today.
Your photos will become part of the 'Te Whau River Biodiversity Survey 2020'. The results from the survey will assist us to:
- establish what species are living in our neighbourhood.
- enable us to determine the species abundance, species richness and the overall biodiversity.
- we will be able to compared the data with other years to establish if there are more or less native species living around us.
- and establish if the neighbourhood is a suitable habitat for native species to roam
Please help us today.
If you would like instructions on how to set up the app or questions about the survey please contact Justine on justine@whauriver.org.nz or Mobile: 021627864 or 09 627-3372
Poll: Should we ditch daylight saving? 🕰️
First introduced in New Zealand in 1927 with the passing of the Summer Time Act, it's what we know as 'Daylight Saving' and this year it ends on the first Sunday in April.
While we do get to sleep in this time around, some people would like to scrap the clock tinkering for good.
And why? Some evidence suggests the time changes are bad for our health as they mess with sleep patterns leading to short-term fatigue and affecting mood. Meanwhile the hour change is frustrating for farmers and a nightmare for getting the littlies to sleep. But what's your take?
-
41.5% Yes - get rid of the clock changes
-
56.9% No, I enjoy it
-
1.7% Other - I'll share below
Don't overthink this riddle...
