Have your say to keep kauri standing
Do you live or work in the Waitākere Ranges? Are you a regular user of the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park? Do you want to have your say about the future of kauri in the area?
If the answer is yes, we want to hear from you.
Auckland Council's Environment and Community Committee has recently proposed to close the forested areas of the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park (with some exceptions) by 1 May 2018. This significant decision was made to provide the highest level of protection against kauri dieback disease.
As part of this proposal, we are seeking feedback from those Aucklanders who will be most impacted on closure of these areas of the park, before a final decision is made on 10 April.

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
