This month is all about bringing your community together and having a great time! We want March to be all about celebrating the connections we have while making new ones along the way. As we all know, what makes a neighbourhood great isn't the houses and cars, gardens and streets - it's the people who share their presence and aroha with each other.
A wonderful way to take part is to participate in Neighbours Day Aotearoa which is celebrating it's 10th anniversary from March 22nd to 31st. To help you get started, we love their suggestions for 10 little and 10 big ways to get involved. (link below)

The airline is offering a range of cheap fares from March 1-8 to destinations around the country. This promotion comes in the same week that Air New Zealand announced its biggest pricing shake-up in a decade. Earlier this week, the national carrier confirmed that it would offer 750,000 seats a year for less than $50 each. Jetstar's response today set the stage for an all-out price war between the two airlines - with customers the big winners. "We've been the low fares leader for domestic fares in New Zealand for nearly a decade," Jetstar chief customer officer Catriona Larritt said. "Last year we sold nearly 600,000 domestic fares for under $50." Flights included in the latest Jetstar promotion include $25 fares between Christchurch and Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch, and Wellington and Nelson. "Whether it's visiting family and friends or exploring somewhere new in New Zealand, this is a chance for Kiwis to grab a really small fare in a really big sale," Larritt said. This move also comes off the back of Jetstar reiterating its pledge to beat any fares by a competing airline on a similar flight by 10 per cent - meaning that astute deal hunters could get an even better deal than the prices promoted by the likes of Air New Zealand or third-party flight search sites. In addition to the shake-up of regional flight pricing, Kiwi travellers also got some good news on the international front this week, with the announcement that Air Canada would be operating a seasonal direct route between Auckland and Canada. The flights on Air Canada will operate out of Auckland on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. A special introductory deal sees the fares selling as low as CDN$1387 (NZ$1541) for a round-trip.

Sam is my 11-year old ginger tom cat. He has been with us since he was a kitten back in Hawke's Bay. He's moved with us 5 times and he has always settled in well. He is used to a quiet environment; it's just me and him most of the time. He is happiest when he's cared for gently, and once he trusts you, he is loving and affectionate.
I am looking for a home where Sam is going to be loved as much as we love him. My heart is sore that I have to leave him behind but I have to go to Europe semi-permanently for family reasons.
I am moving out on 10 March.

Auckland Council is proposing to drop the speed limit of many of the streets in central Auckland from 50km/h to 30km/h as it attempts to make the roads safer for the growing number of pedestrians, cyclists and residents. The proposed bylaw will be put out for public consultation from Thursday until 31 March.
Hundreds of streets are on the list and the majority are in or around Auckland's CBD including Wynyard Quarter and surrounding areas such as Freeman's Bay and St Heliers. However the proposal also touches on some other suburbs with Gypsy Moth Pl, Haki Wihongi Pl in Oratia, parts of Beach Rd in Torbay. George Lowe Pl, Florence Ave, Empire Rd and Hillary Sq in Orewa all set to be cut to 30km/h. Meanwhile, a number of roads in Pukekohe have dropped to 60km/h. The decrease in speeds particularly in Franklin and Rodney is due to a rise in deaths
and serious injuries in these areas. This was due to economic and population growth, new demands on the unforgiving high-speed rural road network and more vulnerable road users using the road network, a report on the safer speeds programme said. The new speed limits bylaw also includes others streets around Auckland where he speed limit has been set at other speeds such as 10km/h, 40km/h and 80km/h. Any speed set outside 50km/h is on the list. AT is dropping the speeds in an attempt to try and curb the sharp rise in the number the number of people dying or being seriously injured on Auckland's roads. The agency has a goal of having zero deaths on its roads. In 2017, 64 people died and 749 were seriously injured on Auckland. The new speeds, subject to changes made following the public consultation process, will be rolled out from August 2019.

The individual was then assessed at the Middlemore Hospital emergency department on the evening of February 21. The health authority is now contacting other patients who may have been exposed to the highly contagious disease at the medical centre or Middlemore Hospital. "We will be contacting people who have been in the proximity of the case [and] asking anyone who has been in these two locations on these days to be aware of the symptoms. They should phone their doctor or call Healthline on 0800 611-116 for advice," said medical officer of health Dr Jay Harrower. "If you feel unwell, please don't just turn up. It is important to call first, because measles is highly infectious and you could infect others in the waiting room," he said.
Dr Harrower said the infected individual caught the illness overseas, but was not infectious on the flight into New Zealand and had not been to any other public places. It was also not connected to recent measles cases in Otago and Canterbury. He advised anyone travelling overseas to be up to date with their vaccinations, especially infants aged between six and 15 months travelling to countries where there is a measles outbreak. "Measles is a serious illness. One in 10 people with measles need hospital treatment and the most serious cases can result in deafness or swelling of the brain. "Measles is one of the most infectious airborne diseases and a person is contagious before the rash appears. It is very easily transmitted from one person to another, possibly by being in a room where an infected person has been," Dr Harrower said.
Measles usually begins with a high fever, runny nose, cough and sore red eyes, followed by a rash starting behind the ears and spreading to the body a few days later. But symptoms often won't show for 10-14 days after the person becomes infected.
