Please think of the animals - they really suffer each and every year.
It doesn't help that there are some miscreants out there who will torment the animals with his stash of fireworks.
If you see ANYONE doing this or being irresponsible - report them to the police. Try and take photos or a video as proof.
Do you need to be firing all of your fireworks weeks or days in advance?
NO you don't!!
Do you need to be throwing them all over the place, just for ghits & shiggles?
NO - no one is laughing!!
I love a great fireworks display just as much as the next person, but it has now come time that there should only be professionally controlled fireworks displays now.
The recklessness and lack of consideration has become a thousand times worse of the last few years and the horrendously deafening noise from some of them - holy moly!!!

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

Night-time chipsealing works on SH2
From 9 to 17 February, stop/go traffic management will be in place on SH2 between McPherson Road and Dimmock Road on multiple nights between 9pm and 5am (Sundays to Thursdays).
During the day, all lanes will be open, but speed restrictions will apply to allow the chipseal to set and to protect vehicles travelling over the newly laid surface.
There may be delays to your journey when travelling through the area. This is weather dependent so check NZTA Journey Planner before you travel.
