January Road Resealing

John Gillon from

The below roads are due to be re-sealed in January. Note that these dates could change, so keep an eye on your letterbox for a notice.
Following the Kaipatiki Local Board's resolution to Auckland Transport opposing the downgrade of suburban asphalt roads to chip-seal, I'm pleased that we've been able to secure the new "rejuvenation" treatment for some roads.

This new treatment extends the life of asphalt surfaces and was trialled in Unsworth Heights. While it is more expensive than chipseal, it is cheaper than asphalt and provides a similar standard of surface, so is a very good compromise. Unfortuantely it can't be applied to all roads, and it can't be applied to roads that have already been downgraded to chip seal :(

Upcoming Chip Seal:
Melba Street, Beach Haven - 11 January
Ayton Drive, Totara Vale - 12 January
Colin Wild Place, Glenfield - 12 January
Girrahwheen Drive, Totara Vale - 12 January
Greenridge Court, Glenfield - 12 January

Upcoming Rejuvenation Seal:
Havenwood Place, Northcote - 13 January
Heathglen Place, Bayview - 13 January
Palmerston Road, Birkenhead - 13 January
Richmond Ave, Northcote Point - 13 January
Vincent Road, Northcote Point - 13 January
Wanita Place, Totara Vale - 13 January

Recently Completed Chip Seal:
Dudding Ave, Northcote
Glenwood Place, Birkenhead
Holyoake Place, Birkenhead
Kyle Road, Bayview
Lancaster Road, Beach Haven
Lynn Road, Bayview
Teal Cres, Beach Haven
Willow Ave, Birkenhead

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Poll: As a customer, what do you think about automation?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Press investigates the growing reliance on your unpaid labour.

Automation (or the “unpaid shift”) is often described as efficient ... but it tends to benefit employers more than consumers.

We want to know: What do you think about automation?
Are you for, or against?
