MECOSS is putting out a call to the community, for contributions of Christmas cards (home-made or store-bought), penned with anonymous hand written messages for someone to enjoy this Christmas.
Why this? Unfortunately there are senior folk living in our community who do not receive cards or visitors during the festive season.
Tips: Have fun being creative; Make sure your writing is legible; Fill your message with love; Please keep the envelope unsealed.
Collection box: Has been set up in the foyer of the All Saints’ Community Centre, 30 Cook Street, Howick, and you can drop them off every day between 8:00am and 4:00pm until Friday, 7 December.
Then before Christmas, the Sending Love organisation will distribute the cards you've crafted, to people in our community who’re elderly and living alone, or who're confined to an age-care facility.
More drop-box locations can be found at www.sendinglove.co.nz...

Driving Miss Daisy is an approved service provider for the Total Mobility Scheme which assists eligible people, (who do not drive a car) to access appropriate transport to enhance their community engagement.

This scheme provides its members with access to transport and the means to participate in their communities in whatever way they choose – helping to get people out and about; whether for work, taking children to and from school, to appointments, to libraries, shopping, volunteer activities, etc.

This assistance is provided in the form of subsidized door to door transport services.

The scheme is funded in partnership by local and central government and operated through local Regional Councils or Auckland Transport. Eligible customers present their Total Mobility card to access a 50% discount on eligible door to door transport. The subsidy varies across New Zealand anywhere from $10 - $40 maximum subsidy per trip.

So, don’t dilly dally, call us today and enjoy the comfort of a beautiful Daisy car transporting you wherever you need or want to go.
