Whakaari White Island - our story
The Whakaari White Island eruption was an extraordinary event that resulted in hours of life-saving surgeries within burn units across the country, with support from the National Burn Centre team at Middlemore Hospital.
The response was unrelenting. Surgeries were required overnight for the first three days and daily until the New Year. The workload took its toll on staff, yet as they reflect on those intense months, along with the struggle, they remember remarkable ingenuity, solid planning, networking and enduring goodwill from staff and public alike.
Here's their story.

🌺💚 Gave my parents a tour of the STIHL hedge trimmers while showing off the beautiful Camellia! Revisited the Japanese maple last Friday and was thrilled to see it thriving—those new leaves are so lush and vibrant after the winter pruning.
