Some have been short-term restorations, recovering a well-planned garden from just a few years of weed invasion.

Others are long-term projects, creating the conditions for the desired plants to succeed, and for easy weed control in the future.

If you are finding your garden hard to manage, through lack of time or difficult conditions, we offer a thorough site assessment in which we will listen to your needs and wishes, with identification of both weeds and any unrecognised free, wild and low maintenance plants... including hidden gems like the native tree seedlings, kahikatea and tanekaha, discovered in a small garden this week, hidden under a few weeds, beside a fence behind Agapanthus, under Japanese anemones and Pineapple sage. To preserve kauri for generations to come, we need to give them space to grow. That’s why 10 rules have been introduced as part of a National Plan to protect kauri from the pathogen that causes kauri dieback disease.

You will need to follow the rules for protecting kauri if you:

- Go into a kauri forest area
- Grow kauri plants/trees
- Have kauri on your property
- Own farm animals/stock that graze in or near a kauri forest

Together we can protect kauri. Find out what you can do

A big thank you to everyone who nominated a small business in this year's Prospa Local Business Hero awards - and who got behind our 11 regional finalists and voted.

And a huge congratulations to Meg Wilson - the founder of PAWS (Pet Animal Welfare Shops) across South Waikato! Meg's passion for pets received almost 20% of votes which has seen her walk away with a prize package worth $10,000 to support the work she and her team of volunteers do each day.

Thank you Neighbourly members for rallying around businesses in your community and continuing to show them how valued they are!
