2019/20 Local Board Budget for Campbells Bay
Auckland Council is currently (until 17 March) seeking feedback on its 2019/20 budget which includes Local Board budgets.
In the "Message from the chairperson" in our (Hibiscus & Bays) Local Board budget, Julia Parfitt states: " We also want to deliver greenways connections beginning with local paths through Centennial Park. They will provide recreational and leisure enjoyment as well as assisting commuters to have a more straightforward route to access public transport. "
As part of that a "Feasibility Study" proposes spending $1,780,000 on upgrading (no new route/path) a route that is considered by many to be satisfactory right now. (Top of Park Rise - Kowhai Rd - East Coast Road - Forrest Hill/East Coast Road intersection).
Meantime there is no specific mention of any budget to repair and reopen Te Araroa Trail between Mairangi Bay and Murrays Bay. This has national significance.
"Assisting commuters to have a more straightforward route to access public transport" is what Campbells Bay Community Plans have requested for some years. With the new bus routes (907 in particular) this is even more relevant for residents around the top of Park Rise. The proposed work does nothing to advance this as there is no new route.
If you have any thoughts/concerns about these priorities, please consider giving feedback online www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz... or direct email to hibiscusandbayslocalboard@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz
Poll: 🤖 What skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?
The Reserve Bank has shared some pretty blunt advice: there’s no such thing as a “safe” job anymore 🛟😑
Robots are stepping into repetitive roles in factories, plants and warehouses. AI is taking care of the admin tasks that once filled many mid-level office jobs.
We want to know: As the world evolves, what skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?

Emma’s wedding dress reveal tells a different love story
A Valentine’s-inspired wedding dress show at Ryman Healthcare’s Logan Campbell Village is providing the perfect opportunity for residents to share memories of their romantic day.
But for Emma Muller, it has also turned into an opportunity to celebrate her late daughter Nicola, who died 19 years ago at the age of 37.
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59.4% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
26.4% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
14.2% ... It is complicated
