Time: 6-8pm
Date: Sunday 18th June 2023
Where:Sunnynook Community Centre 148 Sycamore Dr, Sunnynook (Opposite Countdown)
Light refreshments provided.
Residents of Kennedy Ave, Lyttelton Ave, Augusta Pl, Baltimore Pl, Wilmington Pl and Newport Pl are invited to attend the AGM. Residents of neighbouring streets Longwood Pl, Becroft Dr, Pendene Pl and Trevone Pl are invited to attend to learn about the covenant and how to get involved.
Some of the society successes this year include:
· Successful engagement with real estate agents to raise awareness of the covenant and, in a number of cases, correction of misleading advertising by agents.
· Attendance at auctions, whether in house or onsite, to ensure correct information is relayed to prospective purchasers.
· We have engaged with a property owner in Baltimore via our legal representation to prevent the development of multiple properties on the site, however despite assurances through their legal representation that only one dwelling will be built, we note continued developments on site that indicate an intent to breach the single-dwelling land covenant. We continue to monitor this situation.
· Responded to the Auckland Council zoning changes, both the initial feedback as well as the formal feedback opportunities. Further engagement is expected. It should be noted that Plan Change 78 is now on hold for one year.
It is only with the support of residents that we can continue to protect the aesthetic nature of our neighbourhood, through upholding the protective covenant that supports our beautiful suburb. We look forward to your attendance.
The more members we can get on board the better our chances of successfully challenging future developments.

The council is asking for further submissions to the proposed intensification changes.
These zoning changes will remove the need to apply for resource consent when building up to six-storey apartment buildings or multiple town-houses depending on the zoning. No parts of Forrest Hill will be zoned for single dwellings.
The council acknowledges that private covenants override council zoning, meaning that multiple dwellings per lot are prohibited from being built in the Forrest Hill covenant area. The proposed intensification changes will place an undue burden on residents, who will be left to fend off developers attempting to violate the covenant by building high-density housing or apartments.
Submissions are due 20th January. Any person representing a relevant aspect of the public interest is permitted to make a submission. More details can be found on the council website.
The Forrest Hill Society will be making a submission in this process, as these intensification changes directly affect residents.
You can seek assistance for your submissions via the Council’s free “friend of a submitter" service. Details are available on the council website.

This change will likely result in more developers attempting to build in this area in violation of the Forrest Hill covenants, thus it is important residents of Becroft Drive, Longwood Pl, Grenada Ave, Pendene Pl, Trevone Pl, Kennedy Ave, Augusta Pl, Baltimore Pl, Lyttelton Ave, Wilmington Pl and Newport Pl have their say and oppose these changes.
