CAB Volunteer Awards!
💛 We celebrated our amazing volunteers last week with a delicious morning tea, beautifully organised by Botany Manager, Megan - complete with her homemade Matariki shortbread stars.
Each year, we present a few certificates to recognise volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution. These get spread around the volunteers from year to year. All of our volunteers are absolute stars!
The proceedings were ably MC’d by Board Chair, Richard - also a volunteer - seen here smiling happily out of each picture.
So top first and left to right, we have:
⭐ Linda: Volunteer of the Year plus Outstanding Success in content and design, providing dedicated commitment to managing our social media pages.
⭐ Brian: For providing support to Management and assisting in the training and mentoring of new members, providing presentations to Community meetings and compiling editorials for the Solutions column for the Eastern Times local paper.
⭐ Indira was presented with a Presentation pen box - with pens! - honouring her recent Life Membership of CAB - 10 years outstanding service to CAB.
⭐ Tina: For providing and presenting Maths Tuition workshops and supporting our Bureau in local community events.
⭐ Helen: For outstanding support of our Social Team, Coordinating and managing Volunteer Social Events and CAB meetings.
Congratulations to all of our fantastic volunteers! 👏 👏
Got more greens than you know what to do with? 🥦🌱🥕
Whether it’s a courgette takeover or a feijoa frenzy, don’t let those garden gems go to waste!
Our suggestion to you: Did you know you can grate and freeze excess courgettes to use in chocolate cake later? It sounds a bit dodgy, but it makes the cake incredibly moist ... and hey, it counts as a serving of veg, right? 🍫

💡 A Little Brain Buzz for You⚡
I have two faces, but show you only one.
I once had guests, but now have none.
I’m rarely bloody and seldom blue.
I’m often promised and sometimes new
(Trev from Tamatea kindly provided this head-scratcher ... thanks, Trev!)
