Planting day at John Kay Park

John Gillon from

A great turnout of local residents and volunteers at John Kay Park this morning, to plant over 400 native plants and trees, and to celebrate some of the winners of Pest Free Kaipātiki's "inner kauri hero" competition! The area of bush that has been planted is behind the tennis club and Watercare reservoirs on the corner of Verran Rd and Waipa St.
Thanks to Dennis and the local volunteers, and to Pest Free Kaipātiki for organising this event!

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
