Auckland Transport have weighed up feedback from the community and decided not to proceed with the proposed changes to the roundabout at this time.
"After listening to all the feedback and investigating alternative design options we have decided not to proceed with the proposal at this stage. Investigations into alternative design options found that there were no design options that could be accommodated within the project budget that would address the community’s concerns while still significantly improving bus journey times. COVID 19 has impacted on our budgets so at this time there is no additional funding available to progress a revised design that addresses the communities concerns and improves bus journey times. However, a revised version of this project will be considered again in future when more funding is available. If the project re-emerges we will seek feedback from the public on the revised design option(s)."
Concerns raised in public feedback included:
* Project needs to include safe cycle facilities.
* Proposal creates a road layout that is less safe for people on bikes.
* Want project to include priority crossings for pedestrians, such as zebra crossings over the speed tables.
* Concerns with dual traffic lanes entering and exiting the roundabout (want single lane roundabout).
* Proposal makes it less safe for pedestrians.
* Don’t believe the design meets Auckland Transport’s new design principles.

The whole reserve will be closed for the day. There are likely to be two further helicopter operations later in the project.
Contractors are currently working on the track that goes from Kaipatiki Road to the track intersection near the main Eskdale Road entrance (see S1 to S9 on attached maps), so this track is currently closed for upgrading.

Ancient Greeks: Athletes, Warriors and Heroes is a world-renowned collection from the Ancient Greek world, and is the largest selection of ancient artefacts ever loaned by the British Museum to New Zealand.
But challenges in bringing international exhibitions to Aotearoa during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic have prompted the rescheduling of Ancient Greeks, which was due to open last month.
Auckland Museum chief executive Dr David Gaimster said the virus has had a major impact on touring exhibitions across the globe and here in Aotearoa.
“We continue to explore other exhibition offerings and their viability and remain committed to the importance of international special exhibitions in bringing the world to Auckland,’ he said.
“We continue to work with international partners on an exciting range of exhibitions for our domestic audiences and look forward to announcing these as soon as they are confirmed.”
The exhibition showcases a wide range of treasures and stories and includes a selection of iconic sculptures from the ‘Mausoleum at Halikarnassos’, one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World.
