For the month of October, we want to see how you tackle emergency preparedness. From getting first aid training and stocking up on essentials to putting together a grab n’ go bag or working with your neighbours to create a neighbourhood resillience plan, a little bit of planning goes a long way to make sure you and your community can get through any situation. Joining or setting up a Neighbourhood Support group is a great way to keep in touch and work together to reach out, look out and help out one another no matter what life may bring.
Don’t forget! This month also coincides with New Zealand’s national earthquake drill and tsunami hikoi, ShakeOut, which will be taking place on Thursday, October 28th at 9:30am.
Let us know how you’re getting prepared this month by tagging us in your social media posts or emailing us your photos, videos, or experiences to: info@neighbourhoodsupport.co.nz

Heritage choreographer and artist Alipate Traill will host a livestreamed meke performance on October 4.
Meke is a traditional style of dance from Fiji, and Traill is trying to lead the biggest meke performance ever attempted for Fijian Language Week.
Up to 100 Zoom accounts will be able to join a livestream at 6pm for a practice session before the record-attempting performance begins at 7pm.
Traill said preserving Fijian history and culture with youth is a passion of his.
“Modern day Fijian kids in the urban centres of Fiji are experiencing a major loss of culture,” he said.
“I hope to inspire them to turn it around and take action as they are there in the motherland where cultural knowledge and resources are abundant.”

Sir John Key’s recent media blitz was full of suggestions for how the Covid-19 response could have been done better. Some have been found to be false (such as his claim we could have paid Pfizer for preferential supply), and some seem to have lit a fire under the Government to get things moving (such as the suggestion of home quarantining).
How do you feel about Key’s contribution?

==================================================
***relocating permanently, either to move into a new property that they've purchased or rented, to start a new job, or to travel to a tertiary education residence
***if they have shared caregiving arrangements, for instance joint custody of a child
***if they're returning home from alert level 3 to an alert level 2 environment
There are rules.
=============
"If you're leaving Auckland and not returning, you need to get a negative test within 72 hours before your departure. That's the same requirement as those who are already permitted to move across the border," Ardern said.
"For those who are crossing the boundary for shared caregiving arrangements, because this involves more back and forth travel, they'll need to have a test within seven days of each crossing, the same requirement for those moving freight or part of essential work."
All must carry proof of the need to travel and cannot be sick.
Ardern said travel for funerals and tangi will still only be considered on a case-by-case basis, because they are considered risky in terms of potential transmission of COVID-19.

I also don't know what's in Ibuprofen, Paracetamol , or other meds, it just cures my headaches & my pains.
I don't know what's in the ink for tattoos, vaping, Botox and fillers, or every ingredient in my soap or shampoo or even deodorants. I don’t know the long term effect of mobile phone use or whether or not that restaurant I just ate at REALLY used clean foods and washed their hands.
In short ...
There's a lot of things I don't know and never will…
I just know one thing: life is short, very short, and I still want to do something other than just going to work every day or staying locked in my home. I still want to travel and hug people without fear and find a little feeling of life "before".
As a child and as an adult I've been vaccinated for mumps, measles, polio, chicken pox, and quite a few others; my parents and I trusted the science and never had to suffer through or transmit any of said diseases.
I'm vaccinated, not to please the government but:
* To not die from Covid-19.
* To NOT clutter a hospital bed if I get sick.
* To hug my loved ones
* To Not have to do PCR or antigenic tests to go out dancing, go to a restaurant, go on holidays and many more things to come ...
* To live my life.
* To have kids go back to school and play sports.
* For Covid-19 to be an old memory.
* To protect us.
