Beware - this season's baby owls could be nesting in your wood pile
The owners of a North Canterbury bird sanctuary are urging people to look out for baby owls in their wood piles as owlet season begins.
Oxford Bird Rescue's Scott Bowman said he had already taken in six baby owls, four of which had been found when someone moved the remains of their wood pile.
Now is the time of year people have finished using firewood and are moving any left over to make way for next year's supply. Bowman urges anyone who finds evidence of a den in their wood pile to leave it for a month.
Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
