Attack at Dog Park on Queens Birthday
An open letter to the owners of the dog that attacked mine on Monday afternoon at the Rangiora Dog Park. I hope you see this or someone knows who you are and passes it on.
I apologise I didn't stick around to talk to you, I was far more concerned at getting urgent treatment for my injured dog. But I did hear you say that "He had never done anything like that before..." And I believe you. However he has now. You have seen first hand your dog attack another unprovoked. It was vicious & scary.
My message to you is please , please don't ignore this. I don't want this to happen again to another dog. I sincerely hope you will now take action. Whether it be visiting a behavioural specialist, investing in a muzzle or simply not allowing your dog to be unleashed.
Luckily my dog is recovering ok after an afternoon in surgery, however we may never go back to that park again. which is unfortunate for my other 2 dogs! If you don't take action you will be risking not only the life of another dog but also you're own.
Also a big thank you to others who stepped in & tried to get the dog off of mine. A very unfortunate incident, but an opportunity to ensure it doesn't happen again! Stay close to your dogs when you're at the Park everyone!
