Whānau Mārama: New Zealand International Film Festival runs 24 July to 2 August with 79 feature films and seven short film collections from 41 countries screening in the unique At Home – Online digital edition. Browse the programme and choose from documentaries, drama, doco-drama, short films, animation and a special programme for kids, and enjoy special filmmaker introductions and Q&As.
Selected films will also screen in 16 cinemas and theatres in eight cities – Auckland, Tauranga, Napier, New Plymouth, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Gore.

“I am taking a leave of absence due to the state of my husband’s health and ask that our privacy be respected at this time,” Dalziel said in a statement released by Christchurch City Council on Friday.

Three of the proposals involve planting between 33 and 48 hectares of land with native trees and irrigating them with the treated wastewater at Robinsons Bay and Takamatua, or across the hill at Pompeys Pillar or Goughs Bay.
These options are estimated to cost between $54 million and $76m, which represents a cost of between $44,591 and $62,758 for each of the 1211 houses and businesses that will benefit from the scheme. Akaroa has 830 permanent residents.

Multiplying by seven isn't accurate, a new study says. Researchers at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine and other leading health institutions across the country have now debunked that common belief.
According to their findings, a one-year-old dog is similar to a 31-year-old human.

Council rubbish collectors have had to dump contaminated residential yellow bin waste every day since May 4, when recycling facility EcoCentral reopened after the coronavirus lockdown.
In that time 635 truckloads of recycling have had to be thrown away – almost half of what has been collected, or about 3175 tonnes. The problem, caused by people throwing non-recyclable waste into their yellow bins, has cost ratepayers about $635,000. Read more here.
