A SHORT HISTORY OF THE CLUB

Beach Haven Bowling Club was established in 1994 by a group of local residents who had identified a need for a Bowls Club at Shepherds Park. With the blessing and support of the North Shore City Council (as it was then) the Club opened its doors in 1996 with a small Clubhouse, one Implements Shed and a green cared for by the members. Since then the Clubhouse has doubled in size, a further shed has been added and the green has been fenced to protect the turf and provide shade and shelter for players and visitors. Upgrades are planned for pathways around the green and extensions to the decking area on the Clubhouse during the coming season.

The green has been recently re-turfed to North Harbour and Auckland Bowls specifications. We are therefore looking forward to having a green as good as any Club in the country with the unique bonus of having beautiful wooded surroundings.

None of this work would have been possible without input from the Beach Haven Community. We enjoy the support of Individuals, Local Businesses and Local Government and as a result we have developed into a lively Club with a reputation for friendliness and hospitality to visitors.

Visitors are welcome at any time in either a social or playing capacity. Our Club night is Tuesday from 4.30pm and we are open Saturdays and some Sundays throughout the Sept/April season. We also run Tuesday Club nights and weekend social events out of season. See our website for the weekend playing and social programme.
