An update from the council arborist they replaced the gum trees removed earlier in the year, with some 6 Wollemia nobilis near the registrar building.
Only known from fossils and thought to be extinct, these unusual trees were only discovered in the Blue Mountain National Park near Sydney in 1994.
They grouped these trees together to become a real highlight in the future.
They also planted a group of 6 NZ Mountain cedars (Libocedrus), also near the registrar, 4 Turkish hazel, and are in the process of planting 3-4 Himalayan cedars.

(don't get me wrong the maintenance team there are doing a good job, we are coming out of winter. It took less than an hour and the area looks fab 🤩 the blossoms will be wonderful this year)

"Why review speed limits?
Slowing down saves lives, with a strong link between speed and safety on our roads.
We want to make Christchurch roads as safe as possible so we are reviewing speed limits across the city’s roading network where there are concerns they are not safe or appropriate.
Having speed limits set at the correct level for the conditions on specific roads is one of the most important ways we can help people get to where they need to go safely.
Lowering the speed limit is one of the ways we can create safer roads for all users."
